<p>The Sunshine Coast Community Orchestra Association [SCCOA] began bringing music to life on the Coast 20 years ago with one small orchestra and a vision. On Sunday May 26 join the SCCOA&#8217;s three ensembles and their conductors as they celebrate growth, joy, and a shared love of beautiful music at the Raven&#8217;s Cry Theatre. Returning favourite soloists, Mark Andrews (piano) and Elizabeth Currie-Buono (soprano), join the Coast Symphony Orchestra.  Sharing in the Celebration are The SC Youth Orchestra and the Suncoast Concert Band</p>

<p>One of Canada’s musical treasures, Angela Cheng returns for the grand finale of the Coast Recital Society&#8217;s 2012–2013 season. <a href="http://www.pianistangelacheng.com/"><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-5009" title="Angela Cheng" alt="" src="http://ravenscrytheatre.com/wp-content/uploads/Angela-Cheng-150x150.jpg" width="150" height="150" /></a><br />
Celebrated for her brilliant technique, tonal beauty and superb musicianship, Cheng’s remarkable gifts embrace an extensive keyboard repertoire including solo, chamber music, and piano concertos. She has played with virtually every orchestra in Canada, and across the US and abroad. A noted recitalist, she also performs in collaboration with numerous ensembles such as the Takács, Colorado and Vogler string quartets.<br />
In 2009, Cheng was invited to join the (Pinchas) Zukerman Chamber Players and every season since then, has toured with the ensemble to prestigious stages in Europe, China, the US and South America. She also performs frequently with Zukerman in recital.<br />
Cheng is a dedicated music educator. She conducts master classes around the world and is an associate professor of piano at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio.</p>

<p>Helen Mirren reprises the role of Queen Elizabeth II in Peter Morgan&#8217;s new play, which focuses on the monarch&#8217;s weekly meetings with Britain&#8217;s prime ministers.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s already one of the hottest tickets of the theater year in London, but international audiences will also get a chance to see <strong>Helen Mirren</strong> in <em>The Audience</em> when a performance of the play is broadcast live to movie screens around the world on June 13.</p>
<p>Directed by Stephen Daldry, the production reunites Mirren with playwright Peter Morgan, who wrote the screenplay for <em>The Queen</em>. That 2006 Stephen Frears film earned Mirren a best actress Oscar for the title role of Queen Elizabeth II. She steps back into the shoes of the British sovereign in this new play, which provides a fictionalized account of the monarch&#8217;s weekly closed-door chats with her prime ministers during her six decades on the throne.</p>

Piotr Beczala is Lenski, Onegin’s friend turned rival. Russian maestro Valery Gergiev conducts.</p>

Now Paulo Szot reprises his acclaimed performance of a bureaucrat, whose satirical misadventures in search of his missing nose are based on Gogol’s comic story.
