“20 Years is only the Beginning” Gala Concert and Reception

The Sunshine Coast Community Orchestra Association [SCCOA] began bringing music to life on the Coast 20 years ago with one small orchestra and a vision. On Sunday May 26 join the SCCOA’s three ensembles and their conductors as they celebrate growth, joy, and a shared love of beautiful music at the Raven’s Cry Theatre. Returning favourite soloists, Mark Andrews (piano) and Elizabeth Currie-Buono (soprano), join the Coast Symphony Orchestra.  Sharing in the Celebration are The SC Youth Orchestra and the Suncoast Concert Band

Tickets $25 includes concert and reception

One of Canada’s musical treasures, Angela Cheng returns for the grand finale of the Coast Recital Society’s 2012–2013 season.
Celebrated for her brilliant technique, tonal beauty and superb musicianship, Cheng’s remarkable gifts embrace an extensive keyboard repertoire including solo, chamber music, and piano concertos. She has played with virtually every orchestra in Canada, and across the US and abroad. A noted recitalist, she also performs in collaboration with numerous ensembles such as the Takács, Colorado and Vogler string quartets.
In 2009, Cheng was invited to join the (Pinchas) Zukerman Chamber Players and every season since then, has toured with the ensemble to prestigious stages in Europe, China, the US and South America. She also performs frequently with Zukerman in recital.
Cheng is a dedicated music educator. She conducts master classes around the world and is an associate professor of piano at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio.
